Day 1 - INSERT DATE HERE
  • Objectives
    • Students will know the expectations for the classroom by reading the syllabus and apply these expectations for the remainder of the semester
    • Students will read the Syllabus for the course and memorize portions highlighted verbally by the instructor during class

    • Review and Read the Syllabus - Quiz tomorrow
    • Notebook 'Proof' due in 2 Days. 
      • Either students demonstrate a proven note taking method 
        • OR
      • Students will use the Cornell Note Taking method for the course, and will need a 3-ring Binder

  • Objectives
    • Student will recognize there there misconceptions by answering Pre Assessment Probes and reviewing there answers to the Probes at the end of the Module
    • Student will identify concepts from 1A - Heliocentric vs Geocentric views of the Sky  by sketching diagrams and defining there diagrams while analyzing summary questions
  • Core Content
    • Binder DUE! 
    • Binder Check - 10 minutes
      • Students without a Binder will be assigned a Binder. 
    • Student Outline Rubric for Module 1: The Sky
    • Pre Assessment Probes / Reflection 20 minutes
    • 0B - The Cornell Note Taking Method - 10 minutes
      • Students should be following this Method of taking notes throughout the course. Credit will only be given to student notes that show a proven method of note taking. 
    • 1A - Heliocentric vs Geocentric views of the Sky - 45 minutes
      • Extra time is allowed on this set of notes to explain and monitor the note taking process. Students who prove their note taking abilities early are to work on academic appropriate material. 
      • Students without academic material will always be assigned an ' Article Analysis' sheet.

      • Students will be assessed on their ability to follow instructions. 
    •  Website and Calendar Explained - 10 minutes
      • Students should bookmark the website now
    • 1B - How the Earth Revolves on its Axis - 15 minutes
    • 1C - How the Earth's Axis creates the Poles and Equator - 15 minutes
      • Reading Focus Reinventing Time - NASA 20 minutes
        • A reading packet about the nature of time, and why we have split time into time zones, etc. Read to students for Vocabulary. 
      • Activity - Gyroscope Discussion with students - 15 minutes

    • Notes Quiz 1ABC, be prepared
Day 5 - INSERT DATE HERE
  • Objectives
    • Student will identify concepts from 1D - How we measure an Observation on Earth by sketching diagrams and defining there diagrams while analyzing summary questions
    • Student will map locations around the building that practice taking an observation using Altitude/Azimuth
  • Core Content

    • 1D - How we measure an Observation on Earth - 15 minutes
      • Activity Measuring the Sky with your Hands - 10 minutes
    • Project Design a Scavenger Hunt using Altitude/Azimuth - 90 minutes
