Notes: 2B - How Gravity 'builds' Everything

Watch on YouTube OR watch/download on Google Drive

  • Accretion - Masses coming together and becoming round
  • Round Objects - Objects with enough mass spin and have certain parts
    1. Axis - An imaginary line that an object spins around
    2. Pole - Outside part of an object nearest the Axis
    3. Equator - Outside part of an object furthest from the Axis
  • Orbits - Travelling fast enough that objects miss each other
    1. Barycenter - Gravity pulls on both objects in an orbit
  • Fusion - To much matter, releasing energy and making new elements

Summary Question(s) / Task(s)

  1. Diagram, Label and Explain how Gravity creates round objects through accretion. (Accretion, Gravity, Time)
  2. Diagram, Label and Explain barycenters and how they relate to the orbits of the Sun and Jupiter. (Barycenter (location), Gravity (with magnitude arrows), Orbits (of both objects))
