  • Pretend a friend made a graph of the speed of a bicycle (y-axis) vs time (x-axis) and took several data points.
    • Explain to your friend how to graph their data and then find the slope of their data.
    • Explain why simply counting the boxes (for instance, 5 boxes over on the graph and 3 boxes up) will not produce the correct slope value for the graph your friend made. (Hint: think about the scale on the x-axis and on the y-axis).
    • Why does slope matter? Why is important in science?
