Diagramming Concepts & Explaining / Analyzing

  • Speed: How far you have gone divided by how much time it took to get there. (distance/time or d/t) Units are meters per second.
  • Instantaneous Speed: An objects speed in a single instant or snapshot.
  • Average Speed: Uses initial speed and final speed to gauge the amount of speed happening over a given distance.
  • Velocity: Speed plus a direction! (This is found the same way as speed but requires a direction.)

Summary Question(s) / Task(s)

  • When a police officer tags your car with a radar gun, which speed is he measuring? How do you know?
